About Rain Cloud Rustics
Rain Cloud Rustics is based in the highland desert of Southeastern Arizona. We have seasonal rainstorms that we call monsoons. Many places abroad convey the feelings of a rain cloud as dismal, gloomy, and depressing. To us, a rain cloud means something different. Therefore we chose the name Rain Cloud Rustics as a playful and humorous twist on words. In the desert a rain cloud is uplifting, and a cool relief to an otherwise hot summer season. We hope our creations portray such emotions.
Clay Bowser, our main artist, was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up attending schools both in Sierra Vista, AZ and in Fort Worth, Texas. Starting in elementary school he studied art classes. While in third grade he won third place in a state wide art contest for a drawing of an eagle. His art was displayed in a mall in Phoenix. Then in 7th grade he won honorable mention for a batik dyed piece of cloth designed as a dragon sitting on a gold pile. This displayed at the Tucson mall. In 9th grade in Texas he won honorable mention in a state wide high school contest for a clay sculpture of a mask done in flat plane. He has always loved art and leaned in that direction. During high school, his first wood working project was a pulpit for his church.
He served honorably in the United Stated Marine Corps for 5 years. Next he went to the University of South Carolina where he majored in anthropology focusing on historical archaeology.
Along with art, history and relics are his other passions. His father’s family has been carpenters and house framers for many years. His passion for art and history combined with the experiences he had growing up on construction sites makes artistic rustic furniture a logical profession to pursue.
He now resides in Tombstone, Arizona with Becky, his wife of six years, and his five year old daughter, Jessica. On his property he loves planting all varieties of trees including cedars, ornamentals, fruit and nut trees.
